Functionality Prototype
Oak pellets were chosen as the substrate once again given the quarter timeline because previous experiments show that mycelium grows fastest in oak pellets. The ICF was designed with asymmetrical interlocking parts to promote alternative stacking.
A frame was designed around the dimensions of the ICF. The team constructed the mold using available scrapwood
Unfortunately, this prototype grew mold when the mycelium was left to grow in the frame. An extended timeline should allow a repeat of the procedures to fully realize this prototype.
